Across our lifetimes, we sometimes meet exceptional human beings and Patricia Dorsey a.k.a. Grandma Techno is truly extraordinary.  I first met Grandma Techno in 2014 at the Detroit Movement Festival.  I was  spinning in circles to DJ Aran Daniels at the Made in Detroit stage and Grandma Techno was taking pictures of me.  I introduced myself and we carried on a conversation about how much we loved techno because of its inclusivity, diversity, and unity.  Certainly Grandma Techno has become an icon of the festival because her presence at Movement is a testament to all those qualities.

As a photographer, she captures the spirit of techno by taking photos of those dancing to the music.  Her recent book, "They Call Me Grandma Techno" celebrates the music and people of Movement from 2007 to 2018 and I am so honored to be featured in it... twice:).  Thank you to Grandma Techno, Movement, and I'll see you all on the dancefloor! 👅🎧
